ARTIST LIFE

After the defeat of the Austrians in the war against Prussia, many cultural events such as balls and concerts were canceled in Vienna. To lift spirits and allow the audience to forget their worries for at least one evening, Johann Strauss created the waltz Artist Life, the namesake for the New Year's Concert 2023.

Selected musical treasures, in which art itself is the focus, promise a spirited start to the year. Under the musical direction of the American Karen Kamensek, the musicians will bring compositions by Salieri, Berlioz, Suppè, and of course the Strauss dynasty to life. Once again, director Johannes Reitmeier will guide the audience through the program.
