VIOLIN SOLO
Bach & Ysaÿe: Sonatas
Exactly 100 years ago, the great Belgian violin virtuoso Eugène Ysaÿe wrote his six sonatas for solo violin, each dedicated to a famous violinist of that time and imitating their style. This monument of violin literature is presented by the violinist Martin Yavryan, who lives and works in Tyrol, alongside the great model, namely the cycle of sonatas by Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach's “Sei solo a Violino senza Basso accompagnato” is indeed two hundred years older than Ysaÿe's body of work, but remains a benchmark for every violinist today. Martin Yavryan dares to make a direct comparison and uses a valuable Stainer violin from the Ferdinandeum for his interpretation of Bach's sonatas.
