Musical performance in multiple spatially separated sound groups spread from Italy across Europe around 1600. One who always showed an openness to such innovations was the Munich court conductor Orlando di Lasso. He stayed in Innsbruck several times and maintained a friendly relationship with the Innsbruck court conductor Alexander Utendal; his successor Jakob Regnart married a niece of Lasso. In Innsbruck, the music of the "divine Orlando" was extremely popular; his posthumously published "Magnum opus musicum" with no less than 516 up to twelve-voiced motets was available in Innsbruck as well as numerous other works by Lasso in prints and manuscripts. We combine polyphonic works by Lasso with pieces from composers related to the Innsbruck court, such as Paul Sartorius.
BONUS: 6:15 PM introductory talk on the architecture of the court church
