Description

about the history of the country house

Immediately after the "takeover of power," the Nazis implemented previous plans to expand the historic country house, creating a self-contained complex of buildings in no time. In architecture and furnishings, they combine regionally typical aspects with the representational forms of the NS canon. The government district houses almost the entire party apparatus and state offices during the Nazi era. In the power center of Tyrolean National Socialism, the planning and execution of countless Nazi crimes take place. After the liberation and use by the occupying forces, Tyrolean politics takes possession of the present New Country House. The NS backgrounds are denied and suppressed. Only in recent history has the state taken on its responsibility for remembrance culture and is discussing how to deal with the largest remaining perpetrator building in Tyrol.
