The Collection and Research Center
Millions of objects on 14,000 m2 of floor space and a team of staff are waiting in the depots, restoration workshops, laboratories, and the museum's carpentry for school classes from all over Tyrol. In a two-hour program at several stations, we offer students exciting insights behind the scenes of museum work. They will learn, for example, about the journey of an archaeological object from the newly found cellar to the depot and how artworks are conserved and stored. Natural scientists will show, among other things, the diversity of species in the depot and what field research and the discovery of new species worldwide mean. When it comes to presenting the treasures of the Collection and Research Center in exhibitions to the public, the carpentry is an important place.
Nationwide Action Day
The nationwide action day “School Looks at Museum” is an initiative of the Universalmuseum Joanneum in collaboration with Austrian museums. The goal is to draw attention to the positive interaction between schools and museums as a productive field for learning and experience.
