About Life in Extreme Conditions

About the Exhibition

Beyond 2,000

From the tree line to the high mountains: How do animals and plants manage to survive so high in the Alps? How do they withstand wind, weather, and the whims of nature? Meet chamois, marmots, and golden eagles, hairy flowers, butterflies that cannot fly, and birds that change color, and learn more about the diverse survival strategies of alpine inhabitants. You will be amazed at how well the ptarmigan, edelweiss, and others have adapted to their extreme habitat.

Touch Museum

Not just for looking but also for touching applies to the touchable specimens, which can be seen alongside life-sized insect models, historical herbariums, insect specimens, and fascinating images in the exhibition. They include a very rare alpine inhabitant, the "Ischgl Penguin." How it made it into the exhibition is something both children and adults will learn during a visit.
